Thanks go to BeerTruth for this one!
Poured into a tulip.
Pours a smooth, oily, midnight black. Small cocoa colored head, that quickly vanishes, leaving nothing but a light film in its place. Little lacing.
Aroma is sweet, almost lactose in nature. Nice grainy effervescence, along with mild hints at dried dark fruits - prunes, raisins, figs and such. Touches of dark chocolates and toffee, perhaps.
As for the taste... Somewhat sweet at first, reminding the tongue of dark bitter chocolate and the mornings first cup of super strong black coffee with that bowl of oatmeal. This quickly succumbs to a massive amount of charred malts, not too unlike blackened toast - this I love! And it carries completely through the finish... excellent.
Full in body, smooth, creamy and oily mouthfeel. Dry-ish in the finish. Carbonation is robust and pleasant.
I REALLY like this. Dark, smooth and creamy, sweet and charred - this was made for me.
I want more, please.
Thanks Adam!
