Meantime's Old Smoked Bock poured a beautiful clear caramel brown with the ruby tinted highlights. Very few large carbonation bubbles rise to the surface. A two finger head ecru head formed on the pour that was somewhat soapy and eventually fell to a thin crown. Great looking body although the head wasn't what it could have been.

Aroma is really nice. Traditional bock scents such as big doses of bready and toasted malts along with the a slight bit of rich banana bread (with cherries). This alone will make your mouth water but then along comes the ghostly smoke. I would have to say the perfect amount of smoke is intermingled in this brew and goes great with the traditional bock aromas.

The smoke isn't as noticeable on the palate as in the nose. Again, this is a good quality bock with hints of smoke on the swallow. Nutty and doughly throughout with some toasty malts toward the middle. Banana bread slides through mid-palate and a mild charred smokiness comes through on the swallow. The smoke is hardly noticeable at first but as I drink the smoke builds and becomes a little thicker.

Body is on the heavier side of medium but incredibly smooth. This beer is liquid velvet without much carbonation to get in the way. Nice smokiness hangs out on the back of the throat. Very nice mouthfeel.

Easy drinker beer on a brisk fall evening like tonight. Goes down and warms you as it does.

A creamy bock you can wrap your tastebuds around. Great on this cool evening. A good all around bock and the smoked malts just add a welcomed layer of complexity.
