Pours from a 22oz. bottle a dark golden red with a slight half inch foamy head. The smell is very grapefruity and sour – it really smells like an English Bitter Beer one would get on draught in London. The initial taste gives you a yeasty, burnt, sour flavor that, contrary to my descriptors, is very nice. Again, it has that yeasty bitter beer flavor. Mid taste gives you some real hops bitterness and the finish and an almost sour beer taste. The finish is all bitter and fairly balanced, oddly. While it says it’s an “Imperial†it is more like a straight IPA – a bit stronger and a bit more bitter with a bit more alcohol (8% says the website)… Tough to rate – I love English bitter on draught and this is similar with an IPA twist.
