Color is a glowing brown, fairly opaque, light and clear spotty lace, no head was produced.
Smells of slight nuts and mild bread dough, very nice.
Taste is openly hazy of sweet roasted malt and nuts.
Medium body and feel thats pretty smooth and slightly astringant and has a very small, bittery tang, quite nice and very easy smoothness and bit of rough, oily texture to it. Pretty good stuff, I'd have another.
Bottle dated "Oct week4", pulled from a gift pack.
Poured this into a pint, it has a chestnut ruby glint in the light, with a lasting skim of foam. Spotty lacing here and there. Sweet grainy aroma and some vague fruity yeast, sort of soggy and blah though.
Flavor is similar, grainy and simple, slightly astringent with a mild nuttiness. Something mildy medicinal about it that doesn't sit well with me. No trace of hops whatsoever. Not as crisp as a true German Munich Dunkel. Body is light, and fairly easy drinking. Overall it's passable, but Riverwest Stein is much better.
