A big thanks goes out to hoppymeal for the opportunity to try this rare beer from Kuhnhenn. I'm a really big fan of their 4th Dementia and couldn't wait to try the 5th Dementia. I shared this bottle with a few friends at the Stone Sour Fest 09.
The beer was a dark brown with no head, sort of still.
Tons of dark fruit sweetness, dates, raisins, prunes, brown sugar, molasses, toast, chocolate, black cherries, yeast fruitiness and a bit of alcohol in the back.
A bit of teriyaki upfront, then a mixture of sweet and tart dark fruit in the middle. Toasted almonds near the finish, I love that flavor in a malty beer. Following close by are brown sugar, molasses, alcohol with a very fruity and sweet finish. Wow, just seems to get better with each sip. In the last two sips or so I could taste some toasted oak and toasted coconut. Low carbonation, definitely a sipper, full bodied, and very tasty. Would love to have this one again, too bad it's so limited.
