22 oz bomber I picked up from Hop City. Can't recall the price. Served up in Weizen glass.
A: Pours up a very dark black, practically black body. Hell, I'll say black because even when held to the light the only brown tones coming through are at the top or bottom of the glass. The body is opaque. Pour got me a beautiful finger of mocha colored head that has some very good retention. Falls very slowly to a complete top cap. Sadly, no lacing to speak of really. Not what I was expecting but this beer looks great in the glass.
S: Hmmm, not really picking up any smoke. Mostly comes across with just the typical wheat notes. Getting the standard banana and clove notes, touch of citrus. Some sweetness is pushing through but I can't distinguish anything exactly.
T: Oh, my . . . this is nice. Very nice. The banana notes are perfectly pronounced. Then a very nice cocoa presence pushes through creating an almost chocolate banana quality. Then the smoke comes through. It is moderate but definitely letting you know it is there. Then the smoke and clove just works together, creating a wonderfully rich flavor. Touches of leather and smoked bacon come out from times to time. Dig this.
M: Medium in body with a medium carbonation. This beer has a beautiful creamy texture to it. It just coats the palate and lets you experience everything going on. ABV is barely noticeable. Aftertaste is all chocolate banana goodness.
OA: I almost didn't buy this beer because the idea really didn't appeal to me. I am glad I talked myself into it though because Jailhouse has yet to let me down. Just a great treat of a beer. Big flavors but still remains refreshing. Another great beer from Jailhouse.
