Courtesy of jmu500. Pours into my snifter a deep dark brown bordering on black with a half inch of bubbling khaki foam atop the brew. Very little light escaping this one! Aroma is a bold mix of roasted dark malts alongside smoky, meaty, campfire-esque tones. Touch of chocolate and char but the smoke prevails.

First sip brings semi-sweet dark roasted malts upfront with notes of dark chocolate and dried fruit. Smoke billows in with a vengence of meaty, burnt wood and char flavors. Flows down with a kiss of bitterness and pervading maltiness. Smoked flavors linger on well after each sip.....

Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with great carbonation, almost silky and really easy to drink. Solid body, this is just a great smoked porter if you're a fan of the style. Another winner from Ithaca, glad I was able to try it!

12 oz bottle thanks to Lum. Served up in a standard shaker pint.

A: Pours a pretty nice dark brown almost black. When held to the light it lets in just a touch of ruby red light. Got a touch of light tan creamy head, almost a finger on a vigourous pour. The head is somewhat soapy and slides about on the glass. Carbonation isn't very active on the glass.

S: Smell is some heavily roasted malt. Some serious sticky sweetness going on here in the aroma. Nice coffee notes coming through, along with some really nice milk chocolate scents. The smokiness is light but very appetizing. Not a turn off at all, really compliments.

T: Taste is once again first and foremost big time roasted malt. Smokiness is there also, adding some rich, slightly salty flavors. Coffee cools it down along with some cream and chocolate. Nothing too crazy going on here but this is solid.

M: Medium to full bodied brew. Has some nice creaminess to it. Really coats the mouth and lets you savor the brew. Carbonation is light and helps ease and tame the brew. ABV is nonexistent. No hints of alcohol. Aftertaste is of sweet goodness and smoke.

D: Pretty damned good and very easy drinking. It is just solid all around but it doesn't blow your mind in any department. The brew is damn good though and would be great to have around at all times. Very good and deserves props for sure.

Pours a really dark, cola brown, with a nice almond colored thick two finger head that hangs around, leaving beautiful lacing. Damn, this looks alot like a Stout...

On the nose, yup, wood smoke, coffee, lightly of chocolate, sweet toasted malts.

The smoke characters carry over to the taste, and more so as it warms. Coffee and chocolate jump to the front, this is not bitter at all. A bit dry in the end, again with the smoke and light chocolate aftertaste.

Slightly creamy, average body. Good carbonation. Slightly dry.

This is nice. Easy to drink, nice mild flavors - wasn't overly smoky, which I like. Man, this makes me want to grill up some NY strips, or perhaps some BBQ pork chops, mmm...
Recommended!

A - Pour produces about one and a half inches of toasted marshmallow colored head. Great retention. Body is a medium brown that shows good clarity when brought to a light source.

S - Light peat smoked malt. Touch of campfire. Nice roastiness with a good amount of coffee in it. Smells sort of "meaty".

T - Smoke has a bit more bite to it than in the aroma. Bit of bittersweet chocolate. Very slight hint of coffee. Bitterness with a bit of woodiness with it finishes this off.

M - Medium bodied with a very creamy carbonation. Feels a bit like it's on nitro.

Overall - Solid smoked porter that isn't dominated by the smoke. Recommended.
