22 oz bottle sent to my by the great Lum. Been hearing great things about this one, so I am a happy mofo its now here in front of me in my DFH shaped pint.

A: The beer sits as a light golden color with some nice orange hues. Held to the light, the oranges fade and this comes through as a light golden yellow. Had to be careful with the pour because about two fingers of bright white head built with a quickness. Falls somewhat quickly to about a half finger of foam. Lace is spotty, cause it doesn't have as much stick to it. Body is clear with a large amount of lazy moving carbonation bubbles.

S: Smell is quite nice. Lots of hops upfront, mostly citrus. Getting some grapefruit along with some lemon zest coming across. There is also a nice grassy quality that is also a little bit of some lemongrass coming across as well, light on the herb. Little bit of sweetness coming across, probably some pale malts. Seems simple but the hops aroma comes together wonderfully. Really nice aroma.

T: Damn tasty as well. Grapefruit seems to develop a little more in the flavor. Nice and bitter but still remains a little sweet. Lemon zest as well, but a little lemon meat as well. Little bit of earthiness with some grassy and lightly herbal notes. Malts come across with some creaminess and a little bit of caramel. It adds a little bit of sweetness, but the bitterness is allowed to remain and stand up above all.

M: Got a medium mouthfeel with a medium amount of carbonation. Slick on the palate with a little bit of drying quality to it. Hops have some bite for sure, and bitterness is the majority of the feel. ABV has a little bit of warmth on the throat. Aftertaste is all citrus hops lingering around.

OA: Uh . . . this is really good. Hops are spot on and the malt presence is just enough to keep this really drinkable. Doesn't destroy the palate but has a lot of bitterness to it. I can't find anything really wrong with it. I guess it could be a little more complex but who cares when it tastes this good. Hell yeah, Paul!

The Illustrious BeerTruth and I welcomed this new offering and gladly rewarded ourselves with some bottles at the brewery this weekend. This review is from a bottle shared 1/18/10.

I fell in love at first whiff with this one. My first inhalation at the brewery made me snicker and nod in shared acceptance with my co-conspirator. It might have been time to do my shirt laundry, but the distinctive Simcoe hops are really holding their own here upfront, with a slightly creamy grapefruit and lemon finish.

This looks just as delicious, the almost pure white head is creamy and resilient, leaving a dancing display of lace down the glass (a most BAMF Darkness, thanks Dan-O).

The light golden, slightly hazed appearance will mislead you into thinking the body will follow suit. The carbonation is just high enough to balance out the slightly oily quality the hops add to the body. Bitterness is not lacking at all, it jumps right in at the end and sticks around as long as it likes.

I am 93 IBU's of smiles after drinking this one, again. And again. The alcohol creeps on you like a ninja, it is undetectable in every sip and yet is always there at the end of the bottle. I really should drink another one, now :-)
