Reviewed from notes. Happy hour at the Herkimer.
A - Mahogany body that is clean and clear. Beige head with decent retention. Good lacing.
S - Not a huge aroma here. Lightly roasty malts. Big nuttiness. Probably served too cold to get all the nuances here.
T - Too cold to get all of that which is going on here and I didn't have time to sit and let it warm up. big nuttiness and caramel malt. Nice lingering hop bitterness.
M - Medium bodied with a very clean finish.
Overall - Well crafted and nicely balanced. Sometimes I am not in the mood for "big" beers and this beer would fit those times nicely.

Poured from a growler into my pint glass. repeatedly.
Medium gold-amber with a white head that hangs out a good long time. Toasty, caramelly earthy malt with some noble hop nose that jumps up and asks to be drank. So I did.
Insanely balanced - earthy, slightly spicy Hallertau? Tettnang? hops just flow with a toasty, slightly sweet but not quite caramelly maltiness. A great round fruity maltiness hits mid sip, but the underlying bitterness keeps it in balance. Finishes with a balanced toasty, almost fruity-earthy malt hop balance with an underlying bitterness and spiciness. Mouthfeel is spot on for the style, finishes with me reaching for the growler. Great take on the style.
Thanks to TipTop for the growler - even my "been to Germany and the Holy Mountain" bud loved it. And as someone who has had Im Fuchschen vom Fass, this is gooooood.
