22 oz bottle given to me by the very generous ender. Thanks, man! Served up in a shaped pint.

A: Pours up a dark, garnet colored body. Held to the light, the color doesn't change much. Maybe a little more red comes out. Dark, its very cloudy. Got about a finger of sandy colored head. There is a decent amount of spotty lace on the glass.

S: Beautifully fragrant. Getting lots of herbal, earthy and grassy notes starting this thing off. Behind that is all that wonderful citrus hoppy goodness. It mostly comes out as grapefruit rind. Caramel malty goodness rounds thing out. It just smell so damned good.

T: This mixes it up a bit. Still very hoppy, but I am getting more of a spicy hop presence I didn't get in the nose. This mixes well with those herbal and grassy notes. Nice, clean, and earthy. Picking up on some grapefruit rind and meat, but this one is more about all that spicy and herbal goodness. Pine resin. Malts are light on the caramel, and big on the bready. Everything works well.

M: Medium bodied with a mild carbonation level. Nice and sticky on the palate, with a nice hops bite. Not as dry as a say an IPA, but it has a medium dryness but still has that nice lingering stick. ABV is not even noticeable. Aftertaste is herbal and spicy hop goodness.

OA: Just earthy goodness with a nice hops bite. I am down with this. Just enough hops with just enough malt sweetness. Works on all levels. I would be in trouble if this was readily available locally. Gonna seek out a few bottles the next time this is released.

This is about the third or fourth growler I've had so I figured I should input a couple quick notes on this fine hoppy beverage. It pours a murky-as-hell dark cider red/brown color good lacing/retention. The smell is a great balance of grassy, herbal, and citric/semi-tropical hops with some bready/doughy/grainy/semi-sweet caramel maltiness. Flavor is right about the same with the line walked perfectly between hoppy IPA and malty red ale without too much sweetness at all (more grainy). Body and carbonation are soft but appropriate with a decently bitter bite that isn't super strong but is definitely more assertive than in daisy cutter. Overall, Ginger Twin is a damn good hoppy red ale that I could session all night (and I have done that several times). The melange of hops is reminiscent of daisy cutter, but I think I'd still go with DC if forced to choose between the two for my half acre hop fix.

Price: $11.00 Served In: Pint Glass
