12oz bottle, production date stamped as 02/08.

A: Dusky, hazy amber color. Poured up with a tremendous head that lasts for days after petering down to a 1/4" cap. Steady streams of carbonation from the bottom keep the head alive.

S: Banana, cloves. Classic hefeweizen smells. A faint citrus note.

T/M: Snappy wheat malt. Mouth-coating creaminess with a slight prickle from the carbonation.

D: Uber-drinkability. Great for the hot weather.

Pours light amber with some apricot skin and peach color. Not really cloudy at first but the yeast pour in the end produced the traditional cloudy look. A steady crown of foam rises from the bottom of my weizen glass and reaches a peak of about an inch and a quarter and settles to a quarter inch thick in the glass.

Aroma is sweet wheat malt with a mixture of fruit and a good dose of clove. The banana notes are present as well, not as strong as in other examples but well balanced with the clove and spiciness. The aroma is not as floral or strong as I would have liked but still decent.

Taste is a tad grassy, yeasty, followed by the wheat malt and some fruit in the finish. There’s a somewhat weak metallic taste but near the finish it transforms into possibly clove or wheat. A little bready, maybe dough or crackers, in the middle of the palate.

Very good level of carbonation; feels a little airy and smooth on the tongue without the sting one gets with a high level of carbonation. The beer itself feels a tad thin to me though, like the flavors don’t have enough staying power on the tongue. Therefore, it has a pretty refreshing and clean finish that would go great on a warm day. Not the best hefe weisse beer I’ve had but pretty decent.
