Pours a dark clear brown to settle a solid varnished blackness. Beautifully capped with a finger high light shaded cocoa firm frothy, creamy dense foam. The cap stays firm and holds steady for great length finally dissipating to a heavy skim and lots of broken stringy lacing.
Aroma is partially lofty, calming, soft, and forward with tangy smokey bacon, cocoa butter, cream, and a tuft of vanilla. Mostly the bacon tone comes thru, quite soft though, which is actaully nice. The chocolately current underneath creates a nice soft balance to it.
Taste is soft yet firmly set with a puffy chocolateyness emerging at the forefront while the smokey ascent re-puffs around the edges of the palate with a very light pull to some darker tangyness. A bit of a lean to some vanilla, maple, and bacon make small annoucements. Nice drying finish of chocolate appears and really sticks out as it fades.
Feel is medium bodied and smoothly firm and milken with a nice puff of texture that sets a nice tone of a softer porter. Really liking the emerging chocolate tone coming thru as it goes on and the smoke taking on a very small roll in the play of flavors and tang once it finishes.
A super solid porter by GD. Nice to see, get, drink, and enjoy something new from GD. This Smoked Baltic Porter is a yummy drinkable treat that I'll definately get again.
