Chill hazed light coppery gold color with a thin, yet firm crown of dusted yellow. Keeps a good skim once it subsides and the lace sheets in thick foamy rings.
Aroma is malty semi-sweet with nuances of fruits, but mostly caramel hard candies coated in a nutty butterness. Clean, toastedly touched, woodish, and respectably wafty.
Flavors are nearly the same as what the smell delivers with a semi-sweet caramel malt front thats a smidgeon apricot/orange fruityish with a mild toasted grain backing. Dry middle area builds with a leafy hop tongue scraping fading into a finish of airy leafy hoppyness slipping into some woody hints thats clean and quick with dry plain nuttyness touching the ends. Builds late past the finish with some slight chewy caramel leftovers. Nothing overly substantial though. Stays clean but perhaps a bit low on any real character for my tastes yet keeps an interesting complexity.
Feel is a bit shy of a medium body, seems empty in a good portion of its front and middle. Gradually building with a slightly dryer edge just past midway adding an unusual astringent dry grab for just a stint as the leafy hops take controll the rest of the duration into the finish. A bit more body ensues within the finish late.
A fairly solid "amber", but perhaps a little lower on the scale of the other GD offerings.
