Old Review
22 oz bomber I found at Arbor Place Beverage in Douglassville, GA. I am pretty sure the bottle was $8 or so. Hadn't heard or seen much of this brew, so I figured what the hell. Served up in a tulip.

A: The color is a bit wierd and slightly unexpected. The color i as if you mixed some chardonnay, a Belgian pale and any macro you found in the fridge. Just a strange somewhat shiny golden yellow. The head was white and about half a finger but it was very fizzy and not tight at all. As expected from what I saw, it fell almost immediately only leaving a few occasional wisps of top floaty goodness. Somehow it has a chance to throw some bubbles on the glass, but nothing sticky. Its not bad to look at but it doesn't have any wow factor or impressive qualities, just a bit mediocre.

S: Smell is pretty nice. It has a really vibrant floral aroma. This just smells like a very clean flower arrangement. It does have a noticeable amount of grains and wheat coming across. It is slightly sweet on the nose. There is a tart aroma but not really able to a finger on the fruit presence (maybe some green apple). Just a touch of spices, mostly just a peppery presence. Yeah, its not very dynamic but it works very well for what is there. It definitely makes me want to give it a go.

T: Up front, it almost tastes like a pale wheat. Has a bit of tangy citrus and slight sugars. It does develop a bit more leading to the finish. The floral flavors come out with a touch of a perfume like presence. Its interesting is the best way I can put it. Then you get a hefty amount of yeast in here. There is just a really mild funk and tartness to this beer. Its more grassy/earthy than farmhouse funky. There is a touch of tart citrus (light orange and grapefruit) and green apple coming through. Finish is just a touch of pepper. There is an underlying, very particular lemon flavor that comes and goes during the experience. It is very nice but I wish it was a more stable flavor in the overall flavor profile.

M: Light, very light. This beer is almost watery at times when you first pull but it does get just a touch creamy as the experience continues. Its kinda wierd. Carbonation is not as high as I was expecting but it does bring a refreshing and quenching crispness. ABV is substancial when read on paper, but doesn't come across while drinking. Very tame in that department. Aftertaste is just a combo of some of that floral and some spice.

D: Sure its not the most dynamic Saison out there but it does what it is supposed to : it makes you refreshed on a hot day. Can't bitch about that. Sure the look, flavor and feel could use a bit of work, but the beer works. Its not the best Saison out there by any means but it works in a pinch and makes me happy. I am not upset by this beer at all, maybe just a touch let down. I figure that Great Divide will play with this brew and tweak it a bit as they are known to do. I see it as a work in progress and I expect it to get better the more they brew it.
