Picked up a half gallon growler of this at Vulcan Beverage for $15. For some reason this is my first taste of this beer, and I feel it is very overdue. Served up in a shaker pint glass.

A: This pours out of the beautiful, Alabama growler (milk jug) a varying orange color. Getting a lighter orange that goes to a little darker, burnt orange as well. Held to the light, these color trends hold true but come across a bit more vibrant. This beer is incredibly clear. The carbonation is a bit lazy and slow, but I believe that may be due to the growler fill. The pour got me just a wispy, small white head that has no retention to it and it doesn't throw up any lace. Yet again, I think this is due to the fill and container.

S: Getting a very nice hop presence coming out of this one. Good amount of grapefruit kicks in at first. There is some sweet tangerine coming across as well. Little bit of pineapple is making a presence. A good floral aroma really builds in this thing. Getting some lightly sweet, caramel coming through, but its no where near taking any spotlight. This is all hops.

T: I believe the ClownBoy would call this one "dank". Its coming across as huge tropical and citrus hops. Starts out with a serious dose of grapefruit zest and rind. These flavors come out heavy on the bitterness level. Behind that there is a nice amount of pineapple sweetness. Orange rounds out all these hops with some sweetness and zest. Lightly floral. The caramel malts bring in some sweetness and trys to lend a hand to balance, but to no avail. Touch of alcohol shows itself from time to time. Damned good IPA taste.

M: Medium mouthfeel with a lighter carbonation. This lets the beer have some weight. The hops bring out a big time stickiness. Light alcohol graces the palate. The beer is bitter and acidic on the palate. It finishes really dry and begs for another sip. Aftertaste is lingering grapefruit and orange.

OA: Damned good beer. Has a big time bitter and citrus hops presence in all aspects you can find them. Wonderfully bitter but not over the top. Its just enough to stay in that pleasant bitter level, but it has all the other hop notes and flavors/aromas to round it out. This beer is very well put together and damned fine American IPA. Love it.
