The best example of black marker in a beer! Pours a mostly black color with a red hue around the edges. A soft off white head with decent retention. Did not last through the full tasting.

The nose has a mix of malt, roast and distinct black marker. I think this is more of an English black malt thing. Some minor yeast notes. Some minor esters but light. A hint of herbal and earthy hops but light.

The taste really has the distinct black marker taste. The malt comes out with a caramel and light coffee notes. But in the finish the marker flavor hides a lot. Some minor yeast notes and a like vegi taste that lingers in the finish. Some earthy hop notes that balances well.

The body is moderate to light. Would like a touch more depth but still good. Overall, the black marker thing is off setting. I know I am sensitive to it so leave it at that.

Old Review

12oz bottle poured into a pint tumbler.

A: Poured a nice dark brown, almost black. Had a nice brown head that created some nice sticky lacing.

S: Chocolate, coffee, malt, cream and a bit of cherries.

T: Dark chocolate, cream, malt, rich coffee and some dark fruit including cherries. Very good.

M: Very creamy and gave the mouth a good coat. After taste of slightly bitter coffee and cream.

D: I can't wait to get more. This was amazing and it was a fluke I picked it up. Very nice and will drink again.

Tan head with good lacing covers a dark brown beer. Aromas of Caramel, chocolate and malt on the nose. Well rounded balance in this beer. The Chocolate and Caramel sweetness works well with the hint of hops. Goes down so smooth. No heavy alcohol presence makes this easy to drink.

NICE! Not a bad thing about this brew. Porters are climbing up my favorites chart. This one pours almost pitch black brown. Has a nice dark tan head. Not quite as nosie as I like but still good. The taste and drinkability are bother really great. I will be buying wuite a few more of these.
