Pours from the growler an attractive, amber body with a fiery burnt copper hue when held to the light. A creamy, custard head builds easily and recedes slowly to a thin veil of tightly-packed bubbles that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is intoxicating, perhaps the best aroma on an amber I've come across since trying Mountain State Brewing Company's "Almost Heaven Amber Ale". Gooey, caramel-toffee candy layers complement a floral balance from the Perle & Mt. Ranier hops. Bubblegum, cotton candy, and mandarin orange all thrown in the mix--and have my mouth watering.

Delicious, malty layers of caramel and toffee match the aroma well, along with a bit of nutty chocolate. Then comes the balance of floral, resinous hops that leaves a perfectly-lingering hoppy bite on the back of the palate. Mouthfeel is creamy, with a spot-on carbonation level and a medium body that both refreshes and keeps the drinkability high. All in all, I found Freetail Ale to be an upper-echelon Amber, and I'm glad I have the rest of the growler to keep me company this weekend. Perfect session beer.
