750 ml bottle picked up in the Birmingham. Can't remember the pricing on it. Served up in a balloon snifter/tulip thing.

A: Pours up a very deep brown color. When held to the light, it is much lighter than initially thought. More of a lighter caramel color that is crystal clear. Carbonation activity is minimal. Pour got me less than half a finger of off white head, no retention and skimpy on the lace.

S: Hate to say this, but it smells like gas station cappuccino with hazelnut flavoring . . . and I really dig that. Granted it is a bit more roasty and the hazelnut comes out a bit more, but its gas station coffee and I love that about it for some reason.

T: Pretty close to the nose but not as generic. Roasted coffee notes that really benefit from a ton of hazelnut goodness. The nut flavor comes across roasted as well, a little salty - a little sweet. Light cream but mostly just dark coffee and sweet hazelnut notes. Its simple but it is as advertised.

M: Right smack dab in the middle of medium in body, carbonation is very light. It comes across a bit heavy and silky on the palate. Clears off the palate slowly, allowing flavors to linger. ABV brings just a light heat which is pretty decent considering the size of this beer. After taste is all hazelnut coffee.

OA: Sure, it doesn't deviate from the label description at all, but there is much to be said about a beer simply being what it sets out to do. It could be a bit more dynamic and it does come across a bit synthetic, but it is still incredibly tasty. This is my third bottle of this so far, and I would definitely buy more if I find some. Then again, I am a whore for hazelnut . . . so, take it for what's its worth.

Served In: Tulip
