(Served in a tulip glass)
A- This beer pours a slightly hazy orange body with a gentle carbonation pushing up a creamy beige head with big bubbles.
S- The green slightly pungent fruity hops have a full juicy character with some green grapefruit aroma in the finish. There is a cat pee and spicy quality that grows as the beer opens.
T- The green slightly pungent pineapple weed hops have a slight fruity green hop finish which takes on some herbal pungency as it lingers a bit.
M- The medium mouthfeel has a gentle fizz but no alcohol heat noticed.
O- This is a smooth beer with lots of full hops that are slightly juicy and slightly pungent adding nice complexity and very drinkable.
12 oz bottle thanks to the good Doctor. Served up in a shaped pint.
A: Pours up a slightly hazy golden yellow body. Held to the light, more yellows push through. There's a pretty lively carbonation activity going on in there. The pour got me about half a finger of white head, but it has little to no retention and leaves just a chunky ring. No lacing to speak of.
S: The nose is full of all the hoppy goodness you would expect from an IPA. Lots of big pine notes come through first. Citrus zest, from grapefruit to orange, liven it up a bit. Very slight biscuity malt presence, but very little sweetness to pick up on. Very nice.
T: Very much like the nose. Starts off with quite a bit of citrus notes. Grapefruit zest and sweet orange meat. There is also a touch of a Tang note. Pine punches through to add some earthiness and further bite. The malts are very light, and impart very little sweetness. Just a touch of biscuity malt presence to swing it a bit more toward balance.
M: Light to medium bodied with a bright carbonation. This beer dries right up. Hits you with some bite but everything just disappears. No lingering stickiness or sweetness. ABV is not a problem at all of course. Aftertaste is just some pine.
OA: For a session IPA, this baby has plenty of flavor and aroma, but I think the best attribute of this beer is the feel. It makes this beer the very drinkable awesomeness that it is. If the beer was laced with hop oils and stickiness, it would take away from any sessionable possibilities for this beer. They nailed the feel and made this beer a very believable session IPA. Good stuff.
