Ended up with this growler coming home with me after Dark Lord Day, still half full. Cracks open with nice hiss. Pours a deep black with a ring of tan bubbles on top. Aromas are big on deep chocolate malt and roast. A bit of fruitiness to it with an earthy aspect in the background. Quite a rich, enticing aroma.
First sip is smooth roasted malts with a big chocolate character. Flows down with some fruity accents and a mild sweetness that transforms into earthy flavors on the finish. Just a touch salty as well and I guess you could pick up the mineral character from the oyster shells a bit too.
Overall, a solid stout that packs a tasty malt punch. Good body that's not too heavy and nice flavor. Glad I had a chance to try this and thanks to Josh for sharing this one!
