Pours into the glass a deep dark black with a small bubbly light tan head on top. Aromas of wonderful roasted malts mingling with chocolate, molasses, caramel and a bit of peppery spiciness as well. Touch of burnt coffee in there as well. Really love the depth here, draws you in!

First sip brings big dark roasted malts upfront with some char, chocolate, burnt coffee and caramel. Real great depth of flavor in here and a bounty of roasty goodness. Flows down with a touch of peppery spice and lingering roasted grain on the finish. Damn fine brew.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with good steady carbonation. A really solid brew as the weather turns a bit cooler outside. I wish I could get this locally as I would love to drink this more often!

CV - thanks, gourd lover.

Pours a moonless night kinda dark. Cola-like in appearance, with very soft and subtle amber highlights finding their way in the depths of darkness. Almost one finger of coffee with double creamer colored head rises, and falls. A squinty look into the glass and one discovers an nice clarity to this, and slow ribbons of carbonation making their slow migration upwards to find their new residence alongside their small-bubbled brethren within the collar washing up along the sides of the pint glass. A quick swirl stirs things up again, leaving spotty lacing once everything is still once again.

Aroma is fantastic. Really. Roasted malts, baby. Oh yes. Wet coffee grounds, bitter chocolate, cocoa nibs, vanilla, molasses, and pepper smoke cured meats round this out.

First on the tongue is a refreshing roasted malt taste - slightly bitter - like sucking on a roasted coffee bean. A pleasant smokeyness hits mid-palate, reminding of an autumn fire with a rake full of fallen leaves dumped on and left to smolder. The everlasting finish leaves notes of roasted grains, hints at molasses and more of that roasted coffee bean goodness.

Moderate in body. Smooth, almost slick yet crisp mouthfeel. Quite dry in and throughout the finish. Carbonation adds a perfect complimenting balance to the experience - spot fucking on.

Love this Schwarz. A perfect Autumn beer for those crisp evenings. Refreshing and gratifying for the soul. Easy enough for those faint of palate, and satisfying for the beer lover in all of us.
Dammit, I NEED DR to be distributed here in CNY.
Chuck - good call. Send more.
Highly Recommended.
