HMS Victory as in malt? Presented as a more amber color with red-brown highlights with great clarity. A little warm but good for style. A soft white head gave good retention and decent lacing throughout.
The nose was light overall. Noticeable English malt with some grainy and earthy aromas. Not much on hops but a slight yeasty note on the back end. Nothing overall off just some rose like notes with a hint of oxidation.
The taste is more perceivable. A grate malt presence with a god complexity of grainy, caramel and a light roast flavor. Very flavorful with some minor husk and cereal notes. The hops are limited with a light bitterness and a more earthy floral finish. Not very descript as malt over plays the hop finish. Some yeasty notes, including rose and a slight peppery finish as well.
The body is moderate to full. Carbonation is light but that is ok with style. A great malty ESB. One of the best beers that Dry Dock had to offer.
