Sampled as HMS Bounty Old Ale. Poured a ruby red color with some darker red highlights. Great clarity. A soft white head that stayed for some time but eventually die out.
The nose is limited overall. Mostly malty aromas with a more English 2 row aroma. Some earthy and bready notes. There is a light yeast character with some light esters and a hint of acetaldehyde. Some hints of figs and a spicy hop aroma on the back end.
The flavor is more pronounced than the nose indicates. A more complex malt flavor with a mostly caramel notes but some hints of toffee and bread. A touch of sweetness that is boarder line honey but really comes out more in the finish. Some yeasty notes with a light fruity flavors with figs and dried cherries. Some light raisins as well. There is a slight oxidation note with a hint of card board. Not signification just knit picking.
The body is closer to moderate than big. Carbonation is light but ok. The body is kind of lacking and if anything. I would have liked more complexity out of it overall, especially in the finish, but still very easy light drinking Old Ale.
