6oz bottle.
A - Pour produces no head whatsoever. There are a couple bubbles floating about, but that's it. Not sure I should expect a whole lot of carbonation out of a 13.7%, barrel aged beer though. Body looks to be a chestnut brown, but when brought up to the light, it glows orange. Slight haze to it.
S - All sorts of aspects from the barrel aging come out in the aroma. Big, bold, yet smooth bourbon. Rich vanilla. Slightly charred oak. Underneath the base shows a rich malty backbone with big whiffs of toffee.
T - Flavor is more balanced than the aroma, where the bourbon barrel provides highlights rather than dominating the brew. Big sweetness up front with toffee and caramel. Faded hops show up with a little bitterness still left in them. Vanilla from the barrel comes out, rich and smooth. Slight woody bitterness. Very small amount of oxidation.
M - Smooth and rich. Full bodied.
Overall - I am enjoying this one quite a bit. A nice sipper to warm up the tummy. Would probably be much better enjoyed by a fire in the middle of winter.
