I've been drinking a shit ton of this beer this summer, and every summer since it was released back in 2007. I think they have dialed it in, and its pretty balanced.

2012 review:
Lightly hazed pastel yellow, ample head of foam, bright peachy aroma that falls short of becoming sweet. Tart underripe peach flavor, clean lacto tartness like peach yogurt. Spritzy with a slight wheaty creaminess, finishes somewhat dry this time. Simple but effective. Super refreshing and drinkable at 4.5%, will probably go through a couple cases this summer.

2007 review:
Appearance starts out strong, with lively carbonation, but by the end of the glass it starts to lose steam a little. It pours a nice pale orange tone, with bubbles that cling to the sides of the wide fishbowl-style chalice. Pouring the yeast is recommended, it boosts the mouthfeel and tartness.

Light aroma of peach, lemon, and white grape juice. Vague sourdough bread in the background, but not as pronounced as Berliner Kindl Weisse.

Tart upfront, like lemonade without the sugar. Pale malt or wheat in the middle, clean not funky. Peach is soft and light, and comes out toward the end, lingering with a mild zesty tartness. After half the glass, it seems to ebb away.

Feels like peach schnapps and seltzer, without the sweetness or alcohol. The tingling carbonation centers itself on the tongue, and spreads outward. Spritzy, juicy, not especially dry.

After finishing the first, I had to have another. Perfect for the summer heat. Definitely gets points for creativity...

Festina Peche is a straw golden beer with a slight haze. This beer has an incredibly light golden body. A fizzy dishwater head grew quickly to one finger on the pour and fell even faster down to absolutely nothing. There is not even a hint of head on this beer. A lot of tiny carbonation bubbles burst to the surface and the only thing I see where the head should be is bursting bubbles. The look of this beer is disappointing to say the least. Once the carbonation settles down this beer looks like white grape juice.

The lack of head detracts from the aroma but overall this does smell like a refreshing beer. Peach is right upfront and dominates throughout. There's a slight mustiness that goes along with that peach that I enjoy. The peach is mildly sweet at first before sliding into a tart note. A solid wheaty twang pops up here and there. I like the aroma of this beer but there's just far too much peach involved. The more I smell the more I'm reminded of those jelly peach ring candies.

Everything comes together much better in the flavor then what I've come across so far. The tartness hits right up front and continues through mid palate. Wheat twang and slightly sweeter peach qualities come about when the tartness begins to fade. The sweet and sour play off each other nicely and combine for a refreshing drink.

I really enjoyed the mouthfeel right off the bat but when I got about half my through the glass the aggressive carbonation became a little too much and I could feel it giving my tongue a lashing. The tartness is mild leaves some pucker on the tongue.

Drinkability is what makes this beer. Each sip leaves me wanting another on hot nights like tonight. The tartness is refreshing and enjoyable.

I really enjoy some of Dogfish Head's beer and some of them I feel are overdone, Festina Peche, being an example of the latter. I think there's just too much peach in this beer. In smaller amounts it would be very enjoyable but as is it tastes like peach juice at certain times.

Old Review
12 oz bottle thanks to BamaBeerBuff and AmishT. Poured into a DFH shaped pint.

A: Poured an nice lemon juice color. Very hazy with tons of carbonation. This looks like a sparkling ale. Beautiful. Head was white but quickly fell prey to the carbonation.

S: Smells like you just picked up a fresh peach and smelled the skin. There is also a touch of lemon citrus and wheat on the aroma.

T: Taste is a very subtle peach combined with a tart lemon presence. It balances well and almost tastes like a mixed drink. The malt is extremely subtle along with the grains. The stars here are the fruit.

M: Light bodied brew with an amazing carbonation. Very clean, crisp and refreshing. Very Nice.

D: This is a very tart brew. A great alternative to lemonade after a long day of working in the heat. I imagine the tartness would get a little old, but still an enjoyable brew. Another good brew from DFH.

Seems that berliner weisses are becoming more and more popular. Pours a mostly cloudy straw colored yellow with some hints of orange hue throughout. A soft and light head that hides to the edge of the glass and eventually dissipates altogether. No lacing.

The nose is light as should be but is missing some complexity. To start there is a light grainy aroma with more of a German malt aroma. This is light but some wheaty notes are there. Some hints of sourness and light tartness but limited. A light zesty note as well, but no real fruit or peach aromas.

The taste is a bit more descript versus the nose. The malt comes out a bit more with a good grainy base. The wheat is not really detectable though. A bit sweet, there is only a hint of sourness. More of a tart taste, I would have liked to see more acidic qualities come out. There is just a hint of fruit note that is a bit muddled. Nothing really says peach.

The body is light and tart. Would like more sourness overall. Overall kind of limited. It's like they wanted to make a berliner weisse and a fruit beer and just barely got both.

Pours a slightly hazy light yellow with a small white head. The foam quickly settles and leaves just a small ring of white around the edge of the glass. No real sign of lacing on the walls of the glass. Some tiny bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass.

Hint of wheat malt sweetness and a touch of very light caramel in the distance. Touch of light berry fruitiness. Just a hint of funk.

Slightly sweet wheat malt up front. Touch of fruit next with apples and a hint of peach. Hint of pine and berry. Then a nice sour hint at the end. Another hint of wheat malt coming through at the end too.

Thanks to Jay23 for this extra in a recent trade, haven’t had this one in a while.

Pours the color of pineapple juice, very fizzy at first, looks like pineapple soda.

Sour apples, grapes, peach, zesty wheat, lactic acid, pineapple, orange, tangerine, cherry, strawberry, lots of fruits in this one. Smells like a tart fruit roll-up.

Starts out with a fruit tartness and follows with some lactic acid, and finishes with a good dose of wheat flavor. Fruity in the middle with some peaches, orange, apples and strawberries. Sweet and tart peach flavors in the finish. Some lemon flavors in the finish and aftertaste too.

Very crisp and refreshing mouthfeel, light in carbonation but it has a nice dry finish.

A - Pours a very dull yellow body with a good haze to it. Head starts small, white and fizzy. Now there are only a few bubbles around the edge of the glass.

S - Sweet malted wheat. Tart, almost acidic peach. Sugary and sort of grainy. Hard to describe, but smells sort of "artificial" if there is any such thing.

T - Wow, way more tart than I figured. Very tart peach dominates this brew, almost making it hard to pick out the other flavors. Light malted wheat is there. Some lemon and maybe lime.

M - Medium bodied with light carbonation.

D - Drinks easy, but I think the Peach overtakes it a bit more than I would like. Definitely a summer drinker.
