I just sampled Corner Brewery's version of Dark Corner and now on to Dark Horse's version. Right away the Dark Horse version doesn't sport the excessive carbonation that I came across in the Corner version. Unfortunately there isn't much of a head on the pour. A skimming of off white formed on the pour and left no lacing. Body was slightly hazy ruby that glowed when backlit.

This beer smells totally different from the other batch. The other batch had a noticeable hop presence. This batch is just a big hit of caramel and toasted barley. Besides the maltiness there's some solvent alcohol that really doesn't help the cause. There's really not a whole lot going on in there. I'm not expecting much in the flavor department.

Flavor is all the same as the aroma. Caramel and toasty malts dominate from front to back. Besides that there's a kiss of alcohol on the finish, much less than in the aroma. This beer isn't bad but it's not good either. Reminds me of one of my first homebrews that was just alright.

The mouthfeel is the best part of this brew but it's not all that great. There's a creaminess that stands out but somewhere in that creaminess there's also some grittiness. I couldn't tell you where that comes from.

I have a couple more bottles of this and I will drink them but not now and never two in a row.

This is a let down from Dark Horse. Every other beer I've sampled from them has been top notch. This was mediocre at best. I don't know why this beer was even brewed it just seemed to be a mess from both breweries and neither recipe seemed to jive with the other.
