Review on 7/7/11
12 oz bottle into pint glass. Best before August '11.
Nice barely hazy copper color. Great piney, citrus blend with flavors up front, with neither dominating the brew. Finishes with a strong rush of hoppy bitterness that lingers.
One of my favorite IPAs. It'll keep a regular spot in my IPA rotation.

Poured Loose Cannon into a pint glass and it quickly formed a creamy white 1 finger head. The head faded slowly to a solid cap. The body is a very slightly hazed orange with minor carbonation bubbles rising throughout. I drank a few of these before and some had small protein chunks floating around and some didn't. This bottle is free of the chunks. Leaves a small drink ring that falls back into the body after some time.
The smell is pretty familiar among stronger IPAs and IIPAs. A solid mix of pine needles and bitter grapefruit. There's a solid malt backbone That is biscuity with a mild grain profile. Fairly simple but good.
Taste is more of the same. Pine hoppiness along with a generous squeeze of grapefruit juice. The pale malt and graininess stop the hops from running away with things but the swallow does leave a nice lingering bitterness in the form of pine needles and unsweetened grapefruit.
Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Some alcohol fumes pushing through on the swallow. It's actually pretty refreshing.
Good drinkability is due to the body. The body actually feels somewhat light for the size of this beer. An easy one to drink and enjoyable.
I'd pick this up again to share with friends. There are better IPAs out there but this is a solid choice. I'm looking forward to trying more from Clipper City.

Thanks to tangfoot for this one via the Top 100 BIF.
This bottle has a freshness date of JUN 08.
Pours a golden color with a touch of dried orange peel hue. A frothy two inch head topped this beer and retained itself for a few moments. Some lacing on the glass. Overall a good looking ipa.
There is quite a lot of pine, citrus juices and bread in the aroma. Toasted malt is also there in good amounts as well as caramel and a bit of bubblegum. A little more citrus picks up as the beer settles.
A good mixture of bread and toasted malts with just a touch of bitterness in the middle. Dry graham crackers and bread dough in the finish with a bit of pine. A very inoffensive IPA, really smooth but a tad thin on the flavors. That said, it is a very drinkable beer and a good one to introduce people to ipas.
Loose Cannon is a very good ipa and a refreshing change from bitter west coast beers.

Thanks to JTG for this brew.
A- Clear medium amber with a decent white head on it. Thin creamy layer left on top after it settles down.
S- Nice citrusy aroma too it. Orange peel blends with a light pine aroma also. very nice.
T- Citrus flavor is very nice. Like liquid orange peels. light pine flavors get in there much like the smell. Crisp finish to it.
M- Solid feel with a nice blend of hops/malt.
O- A solid IPA. Nothing really exceptional about it, but nothing to keep me from drinking often if given the chance. UPDATED overall to 8 from 7 because it is so easy and nice to drink.

Best by Jan of 2007, per label.
A - Clear golden color with loads of bubbles racing around the glass. One finger head starts really fizzy, but now looks more soapy.
S - Sweet citrusy hops. Strawberry and passionfruit? Everything is very subdued here.
T - Much like the smell, sweet and fruity. Big time strawberry taste. Subdued grapefruit and lemon. Sweet, light caramel malts.
M - Medium bodied with slightly sticky hops.
D - Nice beer. Toes the line of IPA/APA in my opinion, sort of the way Alpha King does.
