Growler that I just bought at the brewpub earlier today. I am assuming this is the same abv as the regular Scotch that they do.
A - Good hiss on it when I took the cap off. That's a relief as it wasn't screwed on that tight and had a bit of leakage. Pours a dark brown cheshtnut color that can only be seen when brought up to a light source, otherwise it looks black. Khaki head starts at about one and a half inches and is made of fine uniform bubbles.
S - Huge caramel sweetness rides along with some lightly smoked peat malts. Barrel aging is obvious with deep vanilla tones, mild bourbon and a slight charred woodiness.
T - Big chewy malts come on right at the beginning. Like the smell caramel and lightly smoked peat malt, but with some definite molasses in there as well. Barrel aging comes in midway through and lasts through the finish. Rich vanilla covers the tongue. While that is still sitting there a light bourbon flavor comes in and plays along. Light char flavor. At the finish, vanilla comes in again, but this time is accompanied with some light milk chocolate notes.
M - Big and thick. Smooth as silk.
D - I am liking this growler so much better than the glass of this I had at the brewpub. I think a big part of it is the beer was served way too cold from the start and I could only wait so long. I am going to love every swig of this growler.
