A recent visit to Holly Springs and the free tour at CBC, I was able to sample their Spring Bock. One of my favorite NC beers. Pours a clear and yellowy color that is rather light for style. The head retention was good as was the lacing for most of the tasting.
The smell is has sweet malt aroma with pilsner touches and a somewhat yeasty afterglow.
The taste has a more fruiter taste then the nose would tell. The malt is well represented with a sweeter twinge but a smaller hop flavoring taste limits the sweetness not to go overboard. The fruity side has more of a tropical indication with mango and a lighter note of tangerine (at least for me). The hops are more noticeable at the end with more of a flavor finish that has a touch of German flavor.
The body is mid to full feeling. Very smooth and easy to drink. I nice finish with a somewhat dry feeling and a fruity aftertaste. Overall a good beer with plenty of taste and appeal.
