A nice little extra sent by drseamus in a recent trade, thanks.

Pours a coca-cola color with about a quarter inch of foam which quickly settles to a cluster of bubbles.

Nutty and roasted aromas upfront along with molasses and an odd sweet milk aroma. I also get a cotton candy smell, something very sweet like piloncillo or some heavily amount of brown sugar. Some hints of vanilla, wood, caramel, and warm oatmeal. This sweet aroma is a little off-putting for me; I’m a little hesitant on sipping this beer since it appears like it could be too sweet. After it comes to room temp it’s just overly sweet in the aroma.

Tastes a bit like a cola flavored soda plus some roasted barley, hints of coffee and some notes of bitter chocolate. Tastes a bit like a nut brown ale to me. Some flavors of various nuts, roasted nuts.

Mouthfeel is a bit thin and slightly over carbonated. Couldn’t drink too much of this one. Not completely bad, the flavor is ok but drinkability suffers because the aroma is too sweet to overcome.

A - Pours a dark brown body that could be mistaken for black. Almost completely opaque. Head is about one finger tall and fizzy, made up of tight uniform sized bubbles.

S - Nice roasted dark malts. Some coffee and light chocolate. Lactic note is sort of distant, but is there. Some bitter bite from the coffee flavors.

T - Starts off with good roastiness of freshly brewed coffee. Malts in force here. Shortly after the coffee starts to die down, chocolate covers my tongue, with cocoa and dark chocolate being most present. Milk chocolate seems to follow this up as it's defititive layering of flavors. Finishes with a light bitterness. No real aftertaste, leaving the mouth clean.

M - Medium to full bodied. Carbonation is a touch fuzzy.

Overall - I continue to be impressed with Brown's. They really seem to do a great job with what most would say are ordinary styles. Well balanced and packed with flavor. Recommended.
