Served on draught at the 3 Fonteinen café, 2001
The Kriek had a light pink head was a dark reddish color and a bit cloudy. There was an evident cherry aroma and the Schaerbeek cherries came through in the taste as well. I would describe the beer as almost thick and it was definitely sweetish, though not sickly so. The pink head was quite creamy yet it was not all that resilient. The carbonation was also quite a bit lower than the Gueuze, which makes sense, as it is not bottle conditions. Overall this was an incredible example of the Schaerbeek cherry, very complex and wonderful. Too bad it has such a limited production.
