(Served in a tulip)
A- This beer pours a deep dark cranberry hued body with a head of raspberry sherbet but soon fades away. There are a few microbubbles that pop up through the beer.
S- The dark tart cherry aroma has a hint of brie rind and some light barnyard hints that mix in with it but they remain very light. There is some fruit skins aroma in the finish.
T- The musty leaves hint is taken over by a dark cherry fruit flavor and some raspberry tartness mixed in. There is a cherry sourness that lingers after each dry sip.
M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a tight little fizz and no alcohol heat or astringency noticed.
O- The nice blend of fruit and tartness has some mellow hints of funk and the gentle fizz helps to enhance all the flavors. Very nice drinking beer.

A great pop when I removed the cork, it pours a deep deep red with a pinkish head of foam and it brings some nice lacing.
There are sweet and sour cherries notes up front in the smell and some earthy malt but the cherries rule all.
Same goes for the taste. 3 years old and the cherries taste so fresh and vibrant; I can now see the reasoning behind the very, what I thought was, optimistic best by date. I'd say the balance between the sweetness and tartness is near perfection right now. 18 years into the future? Who knows but I reckon this beer would still be a treat.
I'm now getting an earthy character, almost Brett like but not quite. I love the sound of this brew; snap, crackle, and pop? It almost sounds like it's refermenting in my glass. ;^)
Medium bodied with a pretty high level of carbonation which, by the way, suits this beer to a T, the mouthfeel is awesome and..the beer drinks awesome as well. What a wonderful brew!

Thanks to Jon (weeheavysd) for bringing this gem to the SeaofFloydster Tasting on March 28th. It was determined that this beer was bottled sometime around 1987-1992.
Poured a garnet color with a very thin ring around the glass.
Tart raspberry, cherry, plastic, acidity, and funk. Very interesting.
Tart cherries and sweet berry flavors in the finish, quite dry too. Some tart and dry raspberry, dried apricots, very tasty. Low carbonation but proper for the style. Glad I got to try this one, it was quite good.
