Solid lookin' porter pouring amber brown to settle very dark brown with deep amber highlights and a solid tight frothy head of tannish cocoa color that grew to just below an inch high faded somewhat slowly to a ever present skim and lots of light webby lace.

Smell is a solid roasted malt aroma with a milk chocolatey backing and upon swirling gets a note of coffee and burntness.

Taste is a bit more complex then the smell with a hefty almost chewy amount of roasted malts, giving it a over baked, slightly burnt cookie sense with mild milk chocolate and a slight coffee flavor appearing late and the drying sense from the coffee and chocolate showing up even later, quite a nice finish. Overall, very smooth and easy with a light milding amount of bittering hops and just the right amount of taste and flavors to make you take notice. Feel is medium bodied, starts a little weak but picks up nicely and finishes with a genuine porter quality 'late' finish that I like. Its not as sweet or as bold as some porters, but its respectable. Very drinkable as well. Reasonably solid porter.

Thanks to SPLITGRING for this nice extra, didn’t even know about this brewery before. Best By 07/14/08

Pours a muddy, dark caramel color with a good inch of tan colored foam.

Smells of sweet coffee, caramel, malted milk, and some nutty malts at first. Poured it a bit too cold so the aroma is a bit mute, I’ll let it warm up for at least another 5min before taking a sip. Starting to pick up some milk chocolate and more nutty malts too. Has a nice roasted profile, solid for the style. There’s an aroma that has me thinking of sugar cookies. Pretty good.

First sip…still too cold but there is some coffee bitterness, roasted malts, coffee grounds, bitter chocolate…too much bitterness right now so I’ll let it warm up more. After 10 or 15 minutes I still get some roasted bitterness, not much sweetness, and with a bit of coffee near the finish.

A tad over-carbonated but it seems due to the lack of sweetness that doesn’t hold on the palate, it makes it seem like it has too much carbonation. And by over-carbonation I don’t mean that it stings the tongue, at least no too much, it’s actually quite smooth, it’s just a bit thin on the finish so there is a large carbonation feel on the tongue.

Pours a dark ass brown that forms a nice dark tan head. Smell is slightly underwhelming butt goo. Taste is where it’s at, very good brew. Orcinus> hey
