Boulevard Big Blueberry Ox by Boulevard Brewing Co.
Sour Ale
8.50 % ABV

A beer so epic, we had to team up with our friends at The Bruery to wrangle it. Fermented with both Belgian and wild yeasts, this mythic saison is made even more unruly by the addition of 8,000 pounds of whole blueberries.

750mL cork and cage bottle poured into a Blvd tulip glass. The pop of the cork is light. The beer pours with barely a head. This is scary because I am worried about the sourness being too much. The color is a deep blue/purple/red. The color is indicative of a whole ton of blueberries. A halo lacing settles out. Aroma is sour, that pops out first. Acetic sourness that is surrounded by earth and natural berries. Mouthfeel is lighter with low-average carbonation, which actually helps the beer. The flavor again highlights the massive amount of berries. The berries somewhat hide the acetic sourness and provide a softness and fruitiness that incorporates the slightly too sour beer. The aftertaste leaves that sourness. It is a decent beer that is a bit too sour but highlights the berry very nice. This was originally priced at over $20 but I bought it for $11. I would definitely not recommend the original price but ok to try at $11.

Price: $11.00 Served In: Tulip
