12 oz bottle served up in a standard pint glass. Picked up this sixer at Winn-Dixie in Jacksonville. Been trying to find this one for a few weeks but it has eluded me. Luckily I found the last sixer here and now here we are.
A: Pours a golden yellow. Held to the light, the body remains golden yellow but it is just a little more vibrant. The body is clear with a pretty decent carbonation activity moving around in here. The pour built up a little over a finger of fluffy white head. It has a little bit of retention, after about 10 or so minutes it falls to a nice top cap. Decent amount of lacing gets left on the glass. Pretty respectable look that you expect from Sam Adams.
S: Smell is a nice dose of hop goodness. Not overly large or in your face, but just a nice hoppy nose. Mostly citrus in character with lemon, orange and lime peel. There is a bit of an earthy and herbal character to it as well. The malts are grainy and slightly sweet. Nice balanced aroma that has some character to it.
T: Yet again, starts out with a good amount of hops presence. Its about the same as the nose, a good amount of citrus in the form of some lemon and orange, and a whole lot of distinctive lemon peel. Little bit of herbal notes behind that as well. The malts are nice and light but bring a touch of sweetness to cut most of the bitterness from the hops. Grains come through nicely and the whole thing is rounded out with a little bit of pine presence.
M: Light bodied brew with a medium to medium high carbonation level. ABV is not an issue and not noticeable. The brew is refreshing and smooth. Lightly bitter on the palate but nothing too much. Aftertaste is sweet and grainy malt and a little bit of hop bitterness.
D: Its good peeps. I dig it. It seems that Sam Adams brews tend to be hit or miss at times, but this one is a hit. Has that hops presence and complexity, but its not over the top. This would be a good beer to get people interested and more aquainted with hops. Pretty well crafted beer that has accessibilty and drinkability. Really enjoy it and glad I have more in the fridge.
