Longshot - A Dark Night In Munich by Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams)
Munich Dunkel Lager
5.90 % ABV

Corey Martin’s A Dark Night in Munich is a perfect combination of deep roasted malt character with a smooth, creamy finish. To develop his recipe and the rich color of the beer, Corey used a “staining” process in which he powdered the roasted malts and added them early on in the brewing process. The rich Munich malt sweetness comes through in the aroma of this traditional Bavarian wheat beer and the light caramel notes round out the brew.

A- This beer pours a dense brown body that glows at the base with a thin head that soon boils away.

S- The aroma has some Munich malt in the nose with a bit of a coffee malt hint but it is pretty clean in the nose.

T- The grainy flavor of pale malt has some pot caramel notes coming through as it opens and hints of roasted biscuit malt for a moment in the clean finish. There is a spicy hop hint in the aftertaste.

M- The medium-full mouthfeel has a tight little fizz.

O- This beer seems a bit thick and heavy but not much malt flavor or it is all muttled together.
