Burnt chocolate brown. Medium capping of light tanned, creamy foam which resides slowly and keeps a solid skimming always preasant. Tons of thinnly placed sheeting lace with a few torn holes in them is placed lower in the glass. Stretches of strings begin to stick as its consumed.

Aroma is moderately smokey and burnt with an ashen, charcoal base with some graham cracker crust, licorice, straight molasses, and walnut hints.

Taste is not doing it for me, far to ashy in taste for my liking. It tends to show some mellowness as it parades around from sip to sip to with some smallish chocolate hints and burnt molasses-like malt. Tiny hints to licoruce and low hopped bitterness slides around the back end whilst the char hovers always. But overall a little too much on the ashy side of burntness that reminds me more of an ashtray then a beer. But it kinda grew on me as it went along and was able to finish it without to much hassle.

Feel is kinda light, but actaully has a firming creamyness that ensues the middling areas into a more moderately mediumish body. As it drys off gradually in the finish its leaving partial bittering covered in ash and a subtle texture of fluffy chocolate floats about.

This is a well crafted beer, no doubt, just not all that favorable to my palate unfortunatly. I can see this as a love or leave it type of beer. And since it's a once in great while, specially brewed beer. I'm giving it a slight nod up from what was my overall first impression. But as already stated, it did grow on me and I'm glad I picked it up.
