Color is clear, dark ruby red color with a small, light, fizzy head that doesn't linger.
The aroma is faintly sweet malt with hints of toffee and caramel.
Taste is very sweet and malty caramel upfront with a long, sweet finish thats slightly dry and hinted citrus. Feel is medium bodied with low carbination and lends a sweet twinge in the mouth, could use a bit more roasted body I think. A pretty good effort by Samual Adams non the less, and is one of their top beers along with thier Scotch Ale & Octoberfest. It's not as good as many of the German doppelbocks, which conquer all. This was a little too sweet, needed to be more deep, robust, and roastier.

Sam Adams Double Bock poured a burnt amber with all kinds of medium sized carbonation bubbles quickly rising to the head. When poured the head rose to a half finger then fell to nothing more than a thin but creamy cap. Left decent lacing after each sip. Looks good.

Starts off with a healthy dose of warm banana bread. Quickly followed by a raw graininess and tart green apple. I even smell something reminiscent of grape bubble gum. It's mild but there. Solvent alcohol shows up at the end.

Taste is fairly simple. Raw grains and a doughiness up front followed by an astrigent alcohol character. It's not really that bad but stronger than it should be. Mild aftertaste of the tart green apple.

Mouthfeel is much thinner than I'd like it to be. Seems to push through too quickly. Alcohol fumes rise through my throat and nose.

Drinkability is ok. I could drink a couple but thats all I could handle at a time. The alcohol is a little too noticeable and the body too thin. Overall it's a good beer that's worth a try.

A - Pours a dark amber, clean body with some slow moving bubbles rising to the top. Small fizzy head is gone in an instant, leaving only some sparce bubbles on the surface.

S - Lots of what you expect here, in other words malt and more malt. Toffee, caramel, and nutty. Hints of dark fruit.

T - Very similar to how it smells. Big nutty taste up front. Toffee and caramel flavors from the malt really stand out. Dark fruit, mostly cherry, pokes out a little at the end. Slight taste of alcohol.

M - Medium bodied with good subtle carbonation that makes this go down entirely too easy for 8.8%.

D - Nice beer from Sam Adams. I don't think I give their brews enough respect sometimes.
