12 oz bottle thanks to Javit. I like a good dark lager so I am stoked to try this one out. Served up in a pint.
A: Pours up a very clear, medium brown colored body. Held to the light, the brown gets lighter with more yellow hues coming through. There is a good amount of carbonation activity going on in here. The pour got me a finger of bright white head. Retention is decent, falling slowly to a lasting 1/4 finger top cap. There is a good amount thick lace being left behind. Solid.
S: Smell is pretty mild, but it is a lager. Getting mostly malt driven notes. Sweet, touch of toffee and nutty. There is a touch of earthy hoppiness rounding things off.
T: Almost exactly like the nose. The earthy hops push through and take a bit of lead here. Nothing too harsh or bitter but a very nice compliment to the moderate sweetness coming out from the caramel and toffee malt notes. Touch of nuttiness and a bit of smoke.
M: Light bodied with a crisp carbonation level. This beer is very refreshing thanks to its very dry finish. ABV is not noticeable at all. Aftertaste is all toffee goodness.
OA: Incredibly drinkable, very refreshing and just an all around good beer to keep in the fridge. I could easily kill sixers of this beer. Just enough flavor to keep things interesting but nothing too over the top to ruin the experience. Fantastic dark lager.
