Amazingly dark and deceptive pour as it sits like a stout - heavy and black with a finger high head of light cocoa brown firm foam. Keeps its stay for a bit and then some before keeping a slim ring always present. Lacing sticks in tiny little inky strings and patches.
Aroma is a bit muted at first, takes a bit of warming before the tones of dark rounded chocolate begin to take shape. Has some mite sized hints to slight dark fruity raisiny stuff, dates, and banana bread with nuts. A slight warmth also emerges into the nose late.
Solid, robust taster. Deep, dark, lasting flavors roll across the palate with a nice darkly sweet chocolatey tone thats chewy smooth and quite thickly; portly even, and kinda smokey/peaty too. Wonderful! Nice little medley of toasted fruity nut breads with glimmers of caramel and vanilla thrown in. A big time Bell's treat! Yum!
Feel is thick and lovingly soft in a stouty texture. Fullish body, semi chewy and bready, yet very smooth, creamy, and soft with a very hearty warmth and character that suits the colder air weather.
Styles aside; stout, dubble, Belgian dark, whatever...its a whole lotta goodness. Kinda makes me think Expedition stouts' little brother of a sorts. Big and stouty with a tiny flare of the Belgian candy, bready, sweetness. Godd stuff!

A: Poured a thick unpenetrable black color with about a finger of dark brown head, which disippated quickly. A small amount of lacing stays on the side of the glass for a while.
S: Smells of roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate.
T: A blast of coffee and chocolate to start, followed by something slightly sweet (can't put my finger on it). A bitter coffee finish.
M: Thick body with a light carbonation and a hint of booziness.
I was surprised by how thick this is for a belgian. Still pretty dang good. I am glad it's only 12 oz, would be tough to finish much more.

A - Head is fizzy and disappears more quickly that the head on a soda, leaving a black coffee dark brown body. There are some bubbles clinging to the side, but it is mostly opaque otherwise.
S - Toasted malts with a touch of coffee. Dark fruits and caramel. Very subtle.
T - The taste is not nearly as subtle as the smell. Expresso up from leading into some dark fruits. Raisins, plums, and maybe figs. Then you get a bit more fruity sweetness of cherries mostly. Finishes with a coffee bitterness. Leaves little to no aftertaste.
M - Slightly thicker than medium bodied. Light carbonation is still somehow a touch prickly.
D - Hmmm...the coffee bitterness mixes strangely with the other flavors going on here. I will be interested to see how the rest of the bottles in the cellar develop with age.

\"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorn for sega.\" Pours near pitch black, and forms into a nice dark tan head. A little fizzy looking, and that translates to the palate. Very drinkable, and a very good brew.
