The beer has been aged for 2 years. Poured out a somewhat hazy midnight red color with lighter brown hues through out. A good white frothy head still that remains through out the tasting and good lacing.
The nose is big and intense. Complex malt aromas with noticeable alcoholic kick. Some Belgian like characteristics with tropical fruit esters and plum/raisin hints. Has some barleywine characteristic to it.
The taste is big. A complex malt taste with some sugary, syrupy flavors and a splash of caramel. Some honey flavors that mix with more of a fig-like flavor. Noticeable alcohol/solvent flavors. There is a touch of chocolate and licorice in the back end that finishes the beer nicely with the sweetness. I noticed some hop flavors as the beer warmed but subtle.
This one has a big body and then some. A huge profile leaving a creamy finish. Overall this is a fantastic beer that is best aged. Fantastic
