Dark and glossy mahogany. Small, compact head of semi firm and bubbly foamed pale whiteness. Lacing sits in globby stringed patterns across the glass.
Light and clean aroma that carries a cinnamon over baked brown sugar sweetness of old cookies mixed with a bit of dried dark fruits.
Taste is mediumishly malty and slimmingly roasted and buttery with a touch of said cookie-like spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, maple brown sugar, nuts, and some caramel. Light hops pick and choose their way through the finish with a tame citric realm and a poof of pine. Very slow and understated. The finish is a tad sticky of doppelbock-like stickyness thats kinda welcoming and bready soft, but tends not to hold alot of flavor on the palate.
Feel is mediumish and a tad thin upfront. Thickens up into the finish and grabs more bolder malt chewy characteristics. Yet this somehow stays on the thin side of body and stays weakened for a good stint before the malt body hits. The malt that does come in is nice, but again, it doesn't make an impression enough to make it interesting and taste worthy.
Big Dick's Olde Ale isn't very big at all, at least not after my full bomber emptying impression. After a good way into it the malts do leave enough chewy residue for what it's worth. Almost bordering a dopplebock likeness, but short in nature of taste, and nearly everything else an Old Ale should strive to be. And that striving should to be bigger than this effort by Arcadia.

A - Pours a brown cola colored body. Tan head is made up of varying sized bubbles.
S - Dark candy sugar, cherry juice, caramel malt with a slight roasted odor to it.
T - Sweet up front with dark candy sugar, molasses and caramel all working in unison. Moves to a bit boozy taste before a molasses and cinnamon finish.
M - Medium bodied. Smooth and a bit creamy.
D - Not a bad beer really, but pales in comparison to many in the style. Not much going on, very simple. Maybe it would be better with a couple years on it, but who knows.
