16 oz can thanks to the great Bags. Served up in a shaped pint.
A: Hits the glass an almost amber to light brown in color. Held to the light, more orange hues push through. Body is clear that is full of fast moving carbonation activity. Got about two fingers of off white head off the pour. Falls and holds at about half a finger. The foam has tons of stick to it, and the glass is littered with lace all over the place.
S: Plenty of very clean citrus notes jump out first. Clearly grapefruit skin and meat. Orange sweetness also makes an appearance. These malts are matched a bit by a heavy dose of pale malt breadiness. Its not quite DIPA expectations, but it is very nice.
T: Malt heavy in the flavor at first. Lots of bready, pale malts with a touch of caramel sweetness. The hops take hold and the very back end of each sip. Grapefruit citrus notes shift into a serious pine resin quality. The resin gets pretty big at times. Little bit of booze in the flavor.
M: Medium in mouthfeel with a low to medium carbonation (surprising considering the look). The feel is a bit slick and sticky. ABV brings some heat in the throat. Aftertaste is all pine resin.
OA: Not bad at all but everything is almost on the end of a English Style IPA instead of a DIPA. Very malt driven with lots of bready and caramel notes. The hops are great when they zero in, but its just strange to have the malts dominate at first in this day and age (especially on the West Coast). With that said, I am really enjoying it and would love to have again.
