750 ml bottle give to me by Daniel as an extra at Bracfest last year. 2011 bottle. Served up in a bulbous tulip.

A: Pours up a black body, glossy on the edges. Held to the light, stays mostly black with just a touch of dark garnet coming through at the very bottom of the glass. Otherwise, the body is completely opaque. The bottle was a bit of a gusher, so the head was a big four fingers, very foamy and creamy. Pretty good retention as it slowly falls to a solid, lingering finger. Lace has good stick to it.

A: Smell is big on the whiskey. Plain and simple to spot. Boozy which a touch of a metallic quality to it. Once I work through all the booze, I am getting some of the pecan sweetness. Caramel sweetness on the backend from the malts. Really nice.

T: Starts off with the familiar 512 Pecan Porter flavor. Lots of sweet pecans and caramel malts, just amped up a bit. The whiskey rushes in behind the pecan and malts with a punch of booze. It is very prevalent but balanced. I am glad that I opened this at Lum's suggestion because it is tarting up a bit, but it isn't anything crazy yet. Just add a touch of cherry fruitiness at times. Overall, very good here.

M: Heavier side of medium in body with a bubbly carbonation to it. ABV brings some booziness and some heat on the throat and the belly. Sweet on the palate with just a light tartness. Aftertaste is all whiskey booziness.

OA: really tasty but I already knew that after having a bottle at Bracfest. Always been a big fan of the regular Pecan Porter, and this one amps it up without being obnoxious. The whiskey is spot on and compliments rather than dominates. Only gripe is that the beer is starting to turn, but I tackled it when it needed to happen. Good stuff.
