Old Review
22 oz bottle I picked up from Hop City in Atlanta, GA. I believe the bottle was 6 or 7 dollars. Really happy to see this because I love German styles and I was happy to see Great Divide took a Dunkel Weis. Served this one up in my Weihenstephaner Weizen glass.
A: Pours a pretty nice dark brown, very cola color in appearance. Held to the light it has that really nice dark caramel hue to it, absolute cola look here. The body has just a touch of haze but you can easily see through it. The beer has a really nice and steady carbonation movement. The pour yielded about a finger of head and it slowly faltered to about an 1/4 finger that lasts good and long. Throws up a bit of chunky lace but it doesn't really stay on the glass too well. Overall, the look is solid for sure and has me excited about jumping into this brew.
S: Well, its a bit lighter than I like thats for sure. Still, its nice. You get the typical banana and clove presence coming out. You get a bit of some caramel malts that bring on a touch of sweetness behind that banana. The hops are very light but they have that nice German earthiness you expect, a little dirty. Other than that just getting a touch of wheat actually. Everything is there and well represents the style, but the level of intensity is not quite there for my liking.
T: Taste is a bit better. The banana and clove is really nice and has a good complimentary balance to it. The wheat comes in next and is much more pronounced than it is in the nose, it is at a much more appropriate level here than in the nose. Caramel is pleasant, and adds just enough sweetness to the brew in creating that nice flavor combination of bananas drizzled lightly with caramel. Yet again hops are earthy and bring that nice dirt component. Yet again this has places to go to make it better but it is absolutely solid and enjoyable.
M: Light side of medium in body. Has a bit of creaminess to it but it rides a fine line of almost being watery. Can't tell if this is a good thing or not. Carbonation has some heft and really keeps this crisp and refreshing. ABV is nicely light but still has a touch of heat every now and then to remind you its there. This brew finishes pretty damned clean, leaving just a touch of wheat and caramel behind at times.
D: Well, it is light in the feel but that does make this pretty drinkable. This becomes an easy drinker and nice darker beer that can be enjoyed in hotter temperatures. It is solid all around and Great Divide did a good job of representing the style. With that said, I still feel the same way about this one as I do the rest of the newer styles they are bringing out. They seem to do just enough but I feel like they could do a bit more and these beers could be damned good. I still imagine tweaking will be done and this beer will get better as newer batches are released and hopefully they will be. Thanks again, Great Divide. You rarely let a brotha down.

Is dunkelweiss one word or two? Pours a mostly cloudy light brown color. I checked not much yeast. A soft off white head with ok retention and not much lacing to boot.
The nose is light overall. Some hints of malt. A very light chocolate backing but limited. Some banana character but limited cloves that could use some balance. Some bubblegum and a light minerally aroma. Almost salty in a way.
The taste is a bit more descript. Some malty undertones with a light caramel/munich taste. No real hint of wheat. The chocolate in the nose is gone. Would like a touch more complexity here. The yeast comes out but some banana and acetaldehyde. A touch of cloves but still limited. Some esters, rose peddles and figs.
The body is a bit dry for style. Could use a bit more complexity overall. Carbonation is light as well. Overall some minor off notes, but could use some more depth and wheat. Easy drinking though.
